Linen is one of the noblest and most used materials since the history of humanity. We love it for its strength, its incomparable drape but also its beautiful way of patinating over time and which makes it always more beautiful. Its cultivation is more than predominantly French, unfortunately the transformation of this fiber has long been exported to China. At Natissea we work with the last French linen spinning mill which relocated to Poland in recent years to survive in the face of the competitiveness of Made in China. It is relaunching a spinning mill in France in 2022 and we are already working on the development of a 100% French linen yarn from seed to yarn.

Linaé yarn is made of 95% French linen and 5% cotton, which immediately gives it more flexibility in knitting. It has not undergone any chemical treatment and is dyed with GOTS-certified pigments in the North of France. Just like hemp, which is a cousin plant, linen is full of the same natural properties: Hypoallergenic, anti-UV, highly absorbent, anti-bacterial but also thermo-regulating, it will insulate body temperature from outside temperatures, whether hot or cold.

Linaé yarn is suitable for all types of knitwear, including sweaters, tops, jacquard, and lace. It will define patterns very well and won't need to be blocked after each wash. All knitting needles are suitable, but for those who knit tightly, it's best to opt for metal needles.

It's easy to care for; linen is very durable and won't damage anything. It's machine washable, but can also be washed by soaking it in a bath of knitting soap. It dries quickly and doesn't necessarily need ironing.
